TERELI, MALI

photos

During the month of March 2006, a well was dug in Tereli, Mali, greatly assisting the Dogon people living in the escarpment. The finances raised by Paths of Native Africa were taken by our Projects Coordinator to the village, where Chief Dogolou Saye organized and oversaw the purchase of materials and the equitable imbursement of craftspeople and workers. The waters are available to all requiring; no one is denied.

During April 2005, our President revisited the village of Ikot Usen, Nigeria, to begin the project of brick making by which to start reconstruction of the secondary school. With funds donated to the soccer team, jerseys and balls were bought, and the goal posts restored.

Supported by the Steiner foundation, San Francisco Library, private donors, and fundraising, a 2,067 lb. shipment of books and four computers was delivered to the secondary school at Ikot Usen in December 2006.

Through private donations, two secured metal book chests with glass doors have been built. As of January 2007, the books have been arranged and cases placed in the room serving as the teachers' room, library, and office.
